The dense forested rolling hills of Alberta maintain a level of inaccessibility to those unwilling of the effort. With a little perseverance and some elbow grease, Primal Backcountry Teams are able to reach these wilderness areas that hold strong, undisturbed populations of big game. Backcountry Adventures are offered for Moose and Black Bear (Other species may be available upon request).
Wilderness access is gained by whatever means necessary based on the targeted hunting areas. The goal, second only to the harvest of your Trophy Class animal, is to put as much distance between our hunting crew and civilization. A Primal Backcountry hunt could involve the following modes of transportation, but is not limited to; ATV, Boat, Horseback, Pack-String, Backpacking.

Northern Alberta boasts an overpopulation of Black Bears allowing for hunters to harvest 2 quality bears each year. Primal Adventures Outfitting takes pride in hunting what we know to be some of the HIGHEST DENSITY of Blonde to Chocolate color phase genetics in the province!
Spring and fall hunts are available and equally successful!
In addition to a well-kept comfortable wall-tent camp, 3 great home cooked meals a day will be prepared for you. No one goes hungry in our camp!
Each day, hunters and their guide will set off on horseback or by foot and backpack to high elevation glassing positions. Once a target bear has been spotted our skilled guides will help hunters work their way into archery or rifle shooting positions!

In some of Northern Alberta’s last true wilderness resides North America’s second largest subspecies of the deer family. The mostly inaccessible dense bush of the Northern hills hold populations of Moose that have never seen a human. It takes a fair amount of effort and will-power to get ourselves into these trophy areas. This is a physically and mentally demanding hunt, the Alberta wilderness can be very rewarding as well as emotionally and physically diminishing. A hunt like this, is goal oriented, with a trophy class target in mind. All luxuries are cut to a minimum and only the crucial comforts and bare essentials make the pack list.
Camp setup will typically be made up of conventional “pop-up” style tents, tarp camp shelter, and backpacking campfire style cooking. A true Northern Alberta Adventure with a backpacking spin to it! If you’re seeking a bull in excess of 50’’+, an old mature representative of the trophy class in the Canadian Moose species and you’re willing to work your body and mind to the brink in order to fill your expectations.
